Today has already been such a productive day and I haven’t even gotten out of my pajamas.

The two with me pictured above are the two most amazing, selfless, loving people to ever be in my life. For the majority of my life, my grandparents fed me, clothed me, and helped put a roof over my head. Every morning my grandma would make me breakfast and every day til 2nd grade, she would hold my hand and walk me to school. Every day she helped me with my homework, and every day she made sure I knew I was loved. They raised me.
I never got to meet my biological grandma, she died when my mom was really young, but around the time I was born, my grandpa met the woman pictured above. Valentines day of 1996, I was 3 years old, the three of us took the trolley down to the courthouse in San Diego and they got married, with only me as their witness. They have made each other happier than I could ever imagine them being.
Today I found out that my grandma has cancer. It’s not only hard trying to accept that her time is now limited, but it’s hard knowing that the only source of contact I have with her is through the phone until I’m home again in the summer.
I know she’ll get through this though. She is one of the strongest women I’ve ever known. I just wish I could be by her side now how she was for me my entire life.
